From what I understand the Adair name comes from Robert Fitzgerald de Adare. Meaning Robert of Adare(Ireland). From the story I have he killed a fellow knight and fled to Scotland and changed his name to Robert Adare(Adair). This means that they are of Irish descent. The Fitzgerald line descends from royalty all over Europe. This is information that was passed on to me during my studies.
