James Robert Adair the Indian trader and author of The History of the American Indian was reputedly from Scotland, not Ireland. There is a well done piece on him in vol. 2 of Kinfolks, by William Curry Harlee 1935.Lore has it, he is "Robin Adair" He resided in Robeson Co NC under the name of Dr. Robert Adair.
