In the FHL film #1696544 "British Family Antiquity" by William Playfair, 1811, vol. 9 - "The Baronetage of Ireland" page 372 it states : "Ninian Adair, of Kinhilt, Esquire, who married (?????)(date .........) Elizabeth, daughter of his Excellency James Hamilton, Viceroy of Albany,* by whom he had issue, William Adair, of Kinhilt, Esquire, (d ......)who married Marabella, daughter of the Right Honourable Robert Lindsay, Earl of Crawford, and by her had issue two sons; first, Sir Robert Adair ?????? and second, Archibild." The bottom footnote read: " * Thus expressed in the family pedigree." Would you have seen the family pedigree of James Hamilton, Viceroy of Albany, showing his dau. Elizabeth Hamilton's marriage to Ninian Adair ? Perhaps he had placed it in his volume 3 of the same series - "The peerage of Scotland" on film FHL 1696544 Item 3. Or he may have placed it in volume 8 of the same series - "The baronetage of Scotland". I would have thought the above lineage by William Playfair (formerly of Scotland) in 1811 would have been correct, but it may only have been an entry put in by a member of the Adair family who may not have been sure of the exact lineage ?
