I am looking for the parents of a Joseph Adair, who according to a letter written by his son in 1878, was born in 1766 in Cecil County Maryland. He was first married to a Miss Mary Chiles and had two sons Abram and Isaac. He married second Miss Eleonor Overfield and had the following children: __ Adair, Mary (Mrs. Edward Moore), Hiram, Ellis, Joseph, and Abner John. He migrated to Mason County, Kentucky and then to Fleming County, Kentucky. Eleanor died Jan. 5, 1809 in Fleming County. Joseph migrated to Jackson County, Missouri with two of his sons,Joseph Jr.and Abner John. Joseph Jr. later returned to Kentucky. Abner John Adair helped lay out the town of Independence. Joseph Sr. died on Aug. 15, 1832 in Jackson County, Missouri. I would be greatful for any help that you could give me in determining who Joseph's parents were.
