Many times, the middle name of a person is the last name (Maiden name) of a mother. I think that as you trace your family, you will find an Adair in it. The Adairs were very promenant in the pioneering. James Adair was a well know writer who lived with the indians and gave detailed accounts of their life. The Adairs were mostly in Kentucky, Tennessee and other southern states. There is also many indians (usually Cherokee) in the Adair line. I wish you luck on your research. - Cindi Gomes
