I'm probably one of the few who doesn't claim Cherokee ancestry. However, I did do some research for a distant cousin.James Howard m 26 Aug 1837 to Mary Goss in St. Clair co, AL.I'm not sure I got it right, but using "Cherokee by Blood" and George Morrison Bell's "Cherokee Families Old and New", believe Mary Goss may have been a ?sister [memory here] of Benjamin F. Goss, app #2482, Eastern Cherokees.I posted a transcript of his app on the Goss GenForum page some time ago.A daughter of Mary Goss and James Howard wasElizabeth Tabitha Howard who married Willis/Wilson Watson. Some of their descendants married collaterals of mine (a great-aunt, great-uncle, others).
