We have been gathering information about the descendants of Mary Adair, b. 4/13/1805, and Thomas Goss, b. abt. 1800, in the eastern Cherokee Nation, now GA. They had two sons and one daughter, raised by their maternal grandmother and uncle John T. Adair, who was their guardian after their parents' deaths. By the way, Mary's other brother was George Washington Adair, b.12/11/1806. His wife was Martha Martin, and William Penn Adair, b. 4/15/1830, was their oldest son. He was a Col. in the civil war, and later was a representative to Washington, D. C. for the Cherokee Nation, a senator from two districts, and was elected assistant chief the year before his death in 10/21/1880, in Washington, D. C.
Back to the descendants of Mary & Thomas Goss. Their sons were Walter Adair Goss, b. 8/8/1823, d. 1858, with no known marriage or descendants. The other son, Benjamin Franklin Goss, b. 7/19/1827, d. 1/31/1910. He married Sarah Emily Bean, and fathered six children by her. We have information about the descendants of only two of these children, however no William of the date you mentioned. However three of his sons we have not yet found descendant information on as yet. He also fathered three other children by two other women, but we have information about them, and there is no William of the date you mentioned from any of those children. The only possibility would be from the descendants of his sons John Thomas, B. 1/7/1850, Walter Starr, b. 5/1/1853, or Benjamin Franklin, Jr., b. 10-22-1862. They were all born in the Flint District of the Cherokee Nation, abutting the Arkansas border.
