WILLIAM LOCKETT ADAIR, 72, died at home on October 22, 2001, of complications from liver disease. Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Agnes Beard Adair of Houston, son Rev. Andrew and Teri Adair of Bishkek, Krygyzstan, daughter Revs. Ellen and Jeff Schulz of Dallas, son Brent and Shelley E. Adair of Austin, son Craig of Mexico City, four grandchildren, brother Rev. Emmett and Kitty Adair of Brenham, and sister Nell and Gene White of Longmont, Colorado. Bill was born on January 4, 1929, in Fort Worth, the second of three children to Bertha and E.C. Adair. In 1934 he moved with his family to Lubbock where he attended school and later graduated from Texas Tech University in 1950 with a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. Early professional highlights include General Electric in Schenectady, NY, Southwestern Public Service in Amarillo and the Lynn Elliott Company in Dallas prior to serving as a test engineer in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Korean Conflict from 1952 to 1954. After military service. Bill returned to the Lynn Elliott Co. where he worked for eight more years before co-founding Getty's-Eads-Adair, Inc a manufacturers representative company. In 1984 he launched a solo venture, Adair & Associates, Inc. where he remained until his retirement in September 2001. Bill's community involvement included serving as an elder at First Presbyterian Church, Dallas, First Presbyterian Church, Houston, and Memorial Drive Presbyterian Church (MDPC), Houston; teacher of adult and youth Christian education classes; board member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, 1955-1992; and President of the Texas Tech Ex-Student Association. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 p.m. Monday October 29, at MDPC, 11612 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX, 77024. The Faith Explorations Church School Class is hosting a reception in the Fellowship Hall following the service. Memorials may be sent to MDPC to benefit mission outreach and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. This kind and gentle Christian man is missed by all. We love you, Dad.
