My information about Robert Adair begins with the book ADAIR History and Genealogy by James Barnett Adair, M.D. 1924 - Reprint by Southern Historical Press, P.O. Box 738, Easley, SC 29640Robert Adair b. 1772 d. 1846 was one of 8 children of Joseph Adair, Jr. and Sarah Dillard, born in NC. I have a photocopy of a marriage record from Green County, GA, where Robert Adair married Babsey Reid on Aug 28, 1800. Immediately thereafter he apparently settled in Bedford County, TN. My records show 7 children; Sebron, Elbert, Emily, Julia, Patsy, Belle, and Elisha Garland. The family moved to MS around 1846. According to family legend they settled at Dry Creek on the present day Tippah and Prentiss County line just West of Jumpertown and were spending the first winter in covered wagons. Robert and his daughter-in-law Mary Bibb (Elisha G.'s 1st wife) died that winter. They are buried in old Paul's Chapel cemetary in Tippah County. I visited it several years ago and Robert's grave is beside the grave of Mary Bibb and marked with a large rock. Mary Bibb's inscription reads Mary H. Bibb, Wife of E. G. Adair, Born July 4, 1820, Died Dec 25, 1846. Elisha Garland Adair is my gg grandfather. He was married 3 times. With Mary Bibb he had; John B., Onie, Williamson Templeton, Jane Ann, America J., and Walker McFarren. With his second wife Mary Fletcher McHaffey they had; Hattie E., Cardelia W., Ruben H., Isaac Green, Elisha Hilliard, and Lattie. Elisha Hilliard is my g grandfather. His third wife was Mary Gary and there were no offspring from this marriage. I will be glad to share other information and would like any information you have on Robert such as the 1820 GA and 1840 TN census records you mentioned.
