Hi Lee,
My Grandfather in Ark but born in MS about 1877 definitely said "AY dare" His father was born in Georgia. Many words in Arkansas have an accent on the first syllable which is not typical in the north, e.g., "IN sure ince",
instead of "in SURE ance". "HOE tell" instead of "huh TELL".
