My husband's name is Lawrence Adair Moore.> through tracing family history we have discovered that his great great grandfather was James Adair (Ballygowan, Northern Ireland). James Adair married Sara Anne Megraw on 28 December 1847. For some reason (unknown to us) they adopted the surname "Moore" when they settled in New Zealand. All the generations since have included Adair as a given name. The James that settled in New Zealand was the son of James and Ann. That James was the son of James (1770 - 1850) and Elizabeth (1779 - 1856). If anyone knows more about this family (especially the reason behind the name change) we would love to know. We can also update on what happened to the family in New Zealand.
