I am the daughter of Sue Ellis Adair and Morton Perrin Chiles, Jr. of Jackson County Missouri. According to my Grandfather, Abner John(A.J.) Adair, our first Adair anchestor in America was Thomas, son of Alexander and grandson of the Rev. Patrick Adair of County Antrim, Northern Ireland.Thomas came with his wife and three sons, James, William, and Joseph and settled on the line of Cecil Co. Maryland and Chester Co. Pennsylvania in about 1730 where they lived for about 20 years. They then settled in South Carolina. I am a descendent of Joseph. My GGGrandfather, Abner John Adair settled in Jackson County Missouri in the 1820's and helped to lay out the city of Independence. His son Joseph, my Grandfather's Uncle, was the first white child born in Jackson County Missouri. My Grandfather had traced the family back to the Fitzgeralds of Ireland. As he died in 1937, I never met my Grandfather. His notes were made in the 1920's.
