We have been tracking that Adair without success ever since I found him well reported in a book "The Scots-Irish in the Hills of Tennessee". My wife is a Melvin, a product of Bartholomew Melvin and Elizabeth Adair of Madison Co., OH. Elizabeth's ancestors seem to track back to this Adair, but cannot confirm. Her father was John Adair, Jr, his father John Adair, Sr., and his perhaps the above. In the book John was one of the founders of a Presbyterian Church in Knoxville, TN and very prominent in Knox Co, but I cannot get a local in Knoxville to check. Their Historical Society may help.
