Dr. Robert (Robin) Adair was at the Battle of Culloden in Scotland in 1746 with his father-in-Law Lord Albermarle and bro-in-law.
He was surgeon to Duke of Cumberland who later became King Geo.III.
Therefore, perhaps he could not have been in SC at that time.
Therefore it remains a mystery to me why there is a 1778 marker pointing out grave of Dr. James Robert Adair, trader, author, surgeon on staff of KG III.
Surgeon to Gen. Francis Marion's army during Revolution.
Located Rowland,NC.
Ashpole Cemetery in use over 150 years is on eastern side of Mitchells Creek, near site of Old Adair home.
My reckoning is that he perhaps was "one of the brothers", a relation of, perhaps as I now believe a cousin to, but not the Dr. Robert (Robin) Adair who was at the Battle of Culloden 1746 and who married Caroline Kepple, dau. of Earl of Albermarle.
