I have a huge hole in my family history. My ggrandmother was Carpey(Mary Eliz?) Adair, b. Sept 1873 in Spencer, Indiana (I don't know if this was the town or county!). She married Green Berry Benbrook abt 1890 and they lived from that time until their deaths in Miami, Ottawa Co., Oklahoma.
Carpey died in 1957 in Miami. Her death record states that her father was Burleigh (Burleh?) Adair and no mother's name was listed. According to her obit she had two surviving sisters who were living in Ark City, Cowley Co, Kansas at that time. They were Mrs. Ora (Adair) Barton and Mrs Drucilla (Adair) Kuper.
According to census records on G.B and Carpey her parents were born in Ohio. If anyone can help me with my "Carpey" mystery I would be forever in their debt!!! Sue
