I assume you are the one I talked to sometime ago. First, Susan Penelope Lyle died in the late 1860's along with her daughters, Sarah, Susan, sons, Thomas, David, they all died within days of each other with smallpox, or diphteria or what ever was going around then. Her husband, Robert, sons, John Wesley, Sanuel B. and William McDowell survived, do not have my dates in front of me, doing this from memory.Robert and John Wesley died in Jefferson Co., TN, Sam and Wm. McDowell went to Red River Co. Tx then onto Jefferson Co., Ok in 1905. Cleveland Lyle was born in 1895 in Jefferson Co., Tn, was in Texas shortly after the 1900 census was taken. ROY CLAXTON ACUFF was born in Union County, TN on 15 Sep 1903 at Maynardsville.
I do not see how it would be possible for Cleveland Lyle to travel back and forth to TN from TX back then, rapid transit was not invented yet, unless Roy Acuff was a savant I do not see how an infant could play the fiddle. ACCORDING TO ALL FAMILY RECORDS Cleveland Lyle never went back to Tennessee. Also, they were very distant kin. I have copies of the Acuff family chart if you are interested. I have worked on the Lyle/Acuff family since
1977. At a reunion at Mena, Ark several years ago, I took my workbook, no one was even intertested enough to look at it except Janet Lyle Walker, who has most of the records that are in the book, as I gave them to her. Talk to her, she will be happy to share the info as she compiled all of Cleve and Effie's family for me.
