My grandfather died a few years ago he had a brother named Maximillian and since he was 91 when he died it is highly unlikely that your Max is my Max. Especially if your Max died in the 1880's. I searched the list of descendants for a Max. It goes three generations from the first Acosta to come LA. This is a small problem with the large number of children that they had. They could very possibly have children 30 years apart. Long story short, he was not on the list but there is still a possibility of a relation. If you can, you should try the Catholic church in Larose for baptism records. If your grandmother was originaly from Lafourche that's probably were it would be. Other places you could check are: Thibodaux, there are some Acosta's there; St. Bernard, it's closer to your neck of the woods; Donaldsonville and Napoleonville. Punch up "islenos" on your search engine as that is the name for the Canary Islanders, such as yourself.
