The acosta's are a big group from Cabo Rojo in Puerto Rico. Dr. Ursula Acosta has done a great deal of research on the history of that family which dates back to people first coming there and setting up the town. This might be too far back for you but it might lead you to something else. I also have Acosta relatives from Cabo Rojo & area (but not your father that I am aware of). Dr. Acosta has a website at something like www.coqui.net/acosta. Maybe try a search on her. Good luck.
