My ancestor Domingo Acosta (not the same one as above) came from Corsica. He and his family came to Florida in 1967 as indentured servants for a doomed plantation. After the failure of the plantation many of the settlers moved to St. Augustine. There are still many Acostas in this area, and up into Georgia. Possibly one of the family members who stayed behind had a descendant who moved to the Canaries?
