My line is descendant of Lucinda "LUSKIE or LUSKY" ACORN of Mecklenburg NC area. She married David Darnell and they had three children, Lucinda Polk Darnell, David Young Darnell and James M. (maybe for Melton) Darnell. story goes that Lusky was part of a group of women who were rounded up during a camp raid by an army officer named POLK and his men. These women and girls were rounded up and taken to Mecklenburg for sale or for adoption. This story came from one of Mecklenburg's history books. Since Lusky named her first child Lucinda POLK Darnell we thought she might have been adopted by the leader, J. Polk. Does anyone on this forum have that line? I have more. This Acorn line does show up on the DAWES ROLL.
