Acord - Which Boat did we come over on?

Seems like my family, like many here, can be traced back to John Acord and Rachel Combs Acord. Does anyone have any data on how, were the Acords were before that? I guess the general consensus is that John was the first "Acord" and the family spelling was Eckhert, Ackhert, etc. Any one with any definitive information on this? Would appreciate any help.
