Thanks Tom. What I was wanting to know specifically was whether anyone had gotten into the DAR through Christopher 1745, by a descendant of Samuel Black Acklin. I was having a small discussion with another researcher as to whether he was in fact Christopher's son. There happened to be another Samuel Acklin living in TN, born VA in the same time frame. The Bible pages in Lona Koltick's book just says Samuel, no mention of a middle initial or middle name. There is also that article on John Hunt that claims Samuel Black's father's name was also Samuel, not Christopher. I think we've established the fact that Samuel Black is his son to our personal satisfaction, but I still have to wonder if any of his descendants ever applied for, and received, entrance into the DAR through him. Actually I know that you can through Christopher's son John, but I'd like to know if anyone out there has been able to join the DAR through any of his other children. Thanks, r. unrein PS I'm afraid Easter was a wee bit stressful this year, but we made it through. Notify Administrator about this message?
