Looking for relatives of:
James Ackley b. 12 Mar 1799 in NY d. Feb 1 1870 in Marble Rock, IA. On April 18 1822 he married Nancy Brightman in NY, she is the daughter of Martin and Amey (Larkin) Brightman. Nancy was born Aug 24 1797 in Hopkinton, RI. James lived to be 69 yrs, he died Feb 1 1870 in Floyd Co., IA and is buried at West Side Cemetary in Marble Rock. Nancy died after 1833 and is buried at West Side Cemetary. They had a total of 11 documented children: William Henry, Sally Elizabeth, David, Nancy, John Martin, Gideon Charles, Charles Thomas (civil war vet), Russel J., Frances Maria, Solomon 'Judson'(civil war vet and my direct line), and Mary Jane. Most if not all were born in Oneonta, NY. They migrated west in/abt 1864 first to Illinois then settling in Iowa in 1865.
I have info from the "History of Floyd County-1882 Union Twshp". I have found a lot of information regarding dates of births, marriages, stories, etc. on children of James and Nancy.
I am stuck on getting past James. I believe his brother/cousin maybe was Samuel Ackley who married a cousin (it appears) of Nancy. Her name was Charity Brightman.
