William Stephen was born in Linder Co. Missouri. He married a woman by the last name of Veta. They had these children: The twins born after my great-grandfather Stephen William Ackles was Vina(Vinya)and Fern. She died sometime after the twins were born.
William was hired by the Indian Bureaur to teach English on the NezPierce Indian Reservation in Lapwai Idaho.
About 1875 or there abouts Stephen was born, but in Linder Co. MO. They came from Lapwai Idaho to Spokane, Washington. When in 1909 or 1910 before the census was taken William passed away and then he was buried on the Indian reservation with special permission from the elders of the tribe.
Does anyone know about William Stephen, or Stephen William Ackles? My grandfather is Estus Bruce Ackles, born on the Lapwai Indian reservation, was a marine and died back here in Spokane after a long illness with cancer.
I would like any information reguarding the Ackles side of the family as I still have none.
