I have just learned that my gggrandmother, Louise Ackermann's parents were Joseph Ackermann and Margarethe Frey. Joseph came to Texas in 1846 on the ship Talisman. His two children died on the ship and his first wife (name unk) died shortly after they moved to New Braunfels, Tx. Joseph joined the Texas mounted calvary and faught in the Mexican war. He later married Margarethe Frey. They moved to Wetmore, which is now
the northeast part of San Antonio, and raised a large family. They are buried in the Wetmore Cemetery off of Stahl Rd. and Higgins Rd. in San Antonio, Texas.
Any additional information on this family would be greatly appreciated.
