It looks as if you descend from David Ackerman, who came to NY in the TIME of Peter Stuyvesant, viz. 1662 when Stuyvesant was still governor. David soon died, but his widow got land in Harlem and raised several children. Descendants are many, and at least one branch went to NJ early on. There's a large family association, and I'll bet they have a website.
