I know that my Great-grandmother's maiden name was either Ackerman or Ackerson, and I know that her ancestry dates back to Peter Stuyvesant (sp?) and the original Dutch settlers in the NJ area. Her full name was Elizabeth Martha Washington Ackerman (or Ackerson). I am looking for information on that family line. I am just starting my search, and any information will be greatly appreciated.
A little more information if it will help:
She married John Sassa of Japan (American name), and she had two boys - Frank and Warren Sassa (my Grandfather). They lived in NJ and NY. My Great-grandfather died by being hit by a car while my Grandfather was a boy. John was a Tailor/Fashion Designer in NYC, and worked for the Asters designing many of their outfits and costumes (among other actors and politians). That is about all I know. Thank you for your help.
