I too was mixed up on how to spell it. My great great grandma a Marian Ackermann from Norway spelled it with two N's . at least from a clipping at time of death. is this correct according to your knowledge? she died in chicago illinois at time of death. and she is the farthest back I can find.
any suggestions on how to find out more about her?
