I don't know if there is a connection between the families, but there might be since they were both in LaSalle County, Illinois. My Ackerman men also arrived during the 1860's. Do you know how long they might have been in LaSalle County? Our Ackerman's came from Hessen, Germany. There were several Ackerman families who arrived in Cass County and Montgomery Counties, Iowa in ca. 1870. Atleast one, Henry, had been in LaSalle County, Illinois, prior to his arrival in Cass County, Iowa.
