I have a William Akerman born in April 17, 1810 with a brother John who spoke little English. William was born in Cumberland County PA. We don't know anything about his brother John. It is said that they had the "c" in the name with 2 lines under it but dropped the "c" at some point. My great grandfather put it back in.
