Andrew Ackerman, 11th NJ Infantry was killed at Gettysburg, PA on 7/2/1863. I am trying to ascertain the disposition of his remains. Was his body ever found and brought back to New Jersey for burial or does he lie in the National Cemetery there under an "Unknown" headstone? He was from the Paterson, NJ area before the war. His wife remarried and she and her second husband are buried in NYC.
