Diane: It's been some time since we had contact. I'm doing a paper on Civil War Veterans and have Abraham P. Ackerman (b. circa 1826) in New Jersey, Serving in the Michigan 5th Infantry, Company C & I, killed in action at New Market, Virginia on June 1, l864 History of Livingston County Michigan, p. 68). Unmarried. He is of the family of Peter D. Ackerman & Alleta ? which included Sarah Elizabeth Ackerman (1824-1876), John Ackerman (1826-1902), Peter Ackerman, Jr. (1840-c. l865), David P. Ackerman (different mother), William Ackerman, Jane Ackerman Mays(May 10, 1828-September 14, 1918, born in Franklin, Bergen County, NJ before moving to Michigan in l862)and Eliza Ackerman Chapin. But now I question whether he is in fact a son of Peter D. because both he and John have the same birth date and I have no information that they were twins. Any enlightenment? Thanks.
