Ackerman ~vs~ Ockerman any info?

I am researching my family surname OCKERMAN
Does anyone have info about the name Ackerman and Ockerman being connected. I have been told that it may be possible the name Ockerman started from a spelling change of Ackerman, even though the name Ockerman can be traced back to late 1600's to 1700's in the US. Any Ideas??
