WILLIAM JASPER ACKER (PETER4, WILLIAM3, PETER NEWTON2, WILLIAM1) was born 03 Nov 1833 in Anderson
Co., South Carolina, and died 22 Feb 1881 in Talladega Co., Alabama. He married LOUISIA JANE MCCAIN 19
Oct 1854 in Talladega Co., Alabama, daughter of WILLIAM MCCAIN and MELINDA BURNS. She was born 18 Nov
1838 in Alabama, and died 26 Aug 1886 in Talladega Co., Alabama.

Notes for WILLIAM JASPER ACKER:
William Acker enlisted as a Private in Company C, 30th Alabama Infantry at Talladega, Alabama. He was
captured at the surrender of Vicksburg and then paroled. The unit was reformed and continued the fight until the
end of the war. Records show that William was with the regiment when it surrendered at the end of the war in
North Carolina. William's brother, Peter Newton Acker, was assigned as a 3rd Sergeant to the same company and
regiment as William.
