I am one of a group working on an official history of the Wisconsin 23rd Regiment . One of our men is Henry J. Acker We think he was the son of Abraham Acker b. 27 Apr 1809. Henry enlisted 11 Aug 1862 at Manchester, Green Lake Co., WI. This might have been a 2nd enlistment as he enlisted as a Sergeant. He m. Pruda D. ? b. 3 Sep 1839 in New York Their children were Jessie, Frank & Charles. Jessie (dau.) Hwas b. 31 Jul 1863. The family was listed on the 1870 Census for Stacyville Twp, Mitchell Co., IA & on the 1880 Census at Ottawa, Franklin Col KS. He apparently d. before 1900 when Pruda is listed as Head of Household. Pruda applied for widow's pension 5 Feb 1900. We need proof of his parents ndames, Pruda's maiden name, info on her parents & siblings and dates of death & burial for both Henry & Pruda. This is all the information we have. If you can help us fill in any of our blanks we would be grateful.
