you've hit pay dirt man! Gloria Acker (I don't remember her married name) is my dad's first cousin. I am in contact right now with her great nephew, Franklin, who responded to this same original post. In answer to your question, yes, Earnest is the same as S.F. Nobody can tell me why he became Earnest, but it didn't happen until after he was married. His marriage license lists him as Earnest F. (The F. stands for Fremont). His dad's name was Samuel Young Acker, so maybe he became Earnest in an attempt to establish an identity. Who knows? I do know that at the Gold Baptist Church where he was a memberhe is listed as Sam Acker. I know this because he and his wife are listed as Sam and Vinnie Acker. Anyway, thanks for responding. PS, I just reread your post. I'd be happy to send you whatever I have, information, pictures, documents, etc. The line goes back to the Mayflower through the Dingee family. The Acker side is eligile for DAR membership too.
