I have a sneaky suspicion that your family is not closely
related. The major ACHE lines are as follows...

Branch # 1 - early (pre 1748) settlers to Lancaster Co, Pa.
the oldest surviving tombstone is for Johannes Ache (1702-1763) buried at the Swamp Reformed Church in Cocalico. He is somehow related to Johann Heinrich (d 1786)(Reistville, Lebanon, Co), George (d 1802) (Cocalico), Johannes* (Tuplehocken, Berks Co - then Paxtang Twp, Lebanon Co, on through Maryland to Fayette Co, Pa) and another Heinrich (Manheim Twp, now Schyukill Co.) (d. approx 1800).

Johann Heinrich Ache/Aughey (1759-1838) the eldest son of Johannes Ache (Tuplehocken, etc). He eventually settled Juniata Co, Pa..... but his offspring are well documented, and not your ancestor.

* this Johannes is often referred to as John Lewis Achey, but this seems to be wishful thinking in trying to tie him to the immigration roster aboard the Halifax.

Branch # 2 - three ACHE "brothers" arrive on the Halifax in Sept. 1752. J. Ludwig is a schoolteacher in Limerick, Pa. and dies young (line peters out from here), Hermannus (1724-1815) does well in land speculation and owns several farms in Montgomery Co. , J. Jacob is an itinerant miller - his children familiy moved on through the Shenandoah Valley of Va. to eventually settle near Springboro, Ohio. No offspring from this line match with your Lewis.

I trace to Hermannus through his son Ludwig (the one on the 1790 census) but this line is well documented - and the family settled in Hellertown, Pa (near Bethlehem)

Hope this helps

-Tim

He was born in 1789, and another researcher seems to think he was living with Ludwick Ache in 1790, but does not know if he was a son or nephew. His (Lewis') wife's name was Jane, and she is buried in Jacksonville Pa, possibly originally from NJ.
