Thanks for the info. What do you know about Johan-Heinrich Ache? Where was he originaly from? If you could let me know I would sure appreciate it.
Well... I wish I knew where he was from. The bit about being
"Hermannus Ache" aboard the Halifax is 100% nonsense; and
you'll see references to the widow, three-sons their father-
beheaded which seems overly dramatic and inconsistent with
the modern evidence. Since he's the progenitor of one of
the lines in Dayton, Ohio (the other line descends from
Jacob Ache, aboard the Halifax), he's been well "documented"
in a number of D.A.R. applications from the early 20th
century..
This is what I know for certain about Johan-Heinrich Ache...
He's somehow related to the old Johannes Ache(n), 1702-1764
buried at the Swamp UCC in Reinholds, Cocalico Twp,
Lancaster Co.
There are possibly two Henrich Ache's in Cocalico Twp,
Lancaster Co, Pa. during the 1760's. father-son?
father-uncle? I'm not sure....
1764 - Naturalized as Citizen of Great Britain. Sep 15, 1764 - Cocalico Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.
1767 - Sponsors Catherine SCHMID, dau. of Jos Heinrich SCHMID in Cocalico
1771 - Assessed for taxes on a 100 acre farm in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.
1772 - Assessed for taxes on a 100 acre farm in Cocalico Twp, Lancaster Co, Pa.
1776 - Purchased land in Heidelburg Twp, Lebanon Co, Pa. (near Reistville)
1777 - Henry Achi - Non-Associator in Heidelburg Twp, Lebanon Co, Pa.
(History of Dauphin and Lebanon Co, Egle) - (why? was he too old? doesn't seem to be a Tory)
1778 - Swore "Oath of Allegance" to Pennsylvania renouncing King George III

1785 - Assessed for taxes in Heidelburg Twp, Lebanon Co, Pa.
1786 - Died intestate. 356A farm in Heidelburg Twp, Lebanon Co, Pa. survived by wife (Catherine) and 12 children (9 minors, 5 under 14). Guardians appointed in Orphan's Court.

May have inherited farm from "Old Johannes" - died 1764

"Henry ACHE lived in Heidelburg township, some six miles east of Lebanon, and about the time of the Revolutionary War was one of its heaviest tax-payers. From the location of his residence and the time of his death, he must have been the brother of [Johannes of Linglestown].... He had a tact of land patented in 1776, and he called in "ACHAM," evidently having some relationship to his name.
Henry ACHE, of Heidelburg, died in 1786. His children seem to have been Henry, by a first wife, and by the second wife, Catherine, Samuel and the following under age at the time of his death: Jacob, Elizabeth, George, Susanna, Thomas, John, Christian, Peter and Sophia.
Henry (Jr.) died in 1808. Samuel married Elizabeth Albright, daughter of George, of Heidelburg. Jacob was a captian of a company in the war of 1812. After the war, he went to New Orleans and was never heard from afterwards. John married a Hoover, and they are the parents of John H ACHEY, president of the First National Bank of Dayton, Ohio. John P ACHEY, son of Peter, also lives in Dayton. Thomas married Christina Stickel, of Schaefferstown, where he died in 1826. His children were John, died at Oley; Christiana, married Holder; Samuel, married Ann Egle; Catherine; Thomas, died 1879 at Myerstown; Henry, married Ryder, died in Philadelphia; Peter, learned carpenter trade with uncle, Capt. Jacob; Charles, married Foltz, of Lancaster, where he died in 1838; Anthony, drowned near Lancaster; Frederick, leather-dresser and merchant in Baltimore; Lydia, married Raber of Lykens Valley; and Filbert, died unmarried."
