Russell, thank you for contacting me! Since I posted that message, I have connected with family members who have been tracing the Acheson family for over 30 years and they have been able to provide me with invaluable background information. I do now have the name of James' wife and his parents and siblings. However, I am always interested in more information. The gravestone inscriptions are especially interesting to me.

You mention a Thomas McLelland as a witness to the marriage of your great-great-grandparents. Do you know anything about this family? James Acheson had a brother named George who immigrated to the United States, settling in Pennsylvania. Family records suggest that he married Margaret McClellan but I haven't been able to find any record of her last name - parents, siblings, etc. I know that Margaret was born in Pennsylvania and that her father was born in Ireland. This connection would be a real longshot but just thought I would ask if you had any more information on this family.

Again, thank you for your generous offer to share information!

Ann
