Hi Carol,
I haven't heard of Acheson Hill Head.I like finding places with family names. We have two roads named after the family in or near Brisbane. The spelling changed on arrival in Queensland and our family is Aitcheson.Family legend says Robert couldn't spell. My grandparents lived on Aitcheson Street. My gg grandparents were on Aitcheson Rd.
From memory, Grey Abbey is near the coast.I looked it up in the atlas once.
What year was your Thomas born?My Robert was born in 1847. I think every Acheson family had a Robert and a James.Mum still has a cousin named Robert but I think that generation missed out on a James, except as a middle name.
The Gilmour connection seems promising, perhaps we should check out the boards for our 'Gilmour girls' and see what we come up with.
blessings,
Julie.
