Looking for anyone with connections to this Acheson Family:
Alexander Acheson(b.1827,Athenry,Co.Galway), son of Jeremiah Acheson(d.1838),aged 65, possibly originally from the province of Ulster, but Parish Clerk at Athenry from 1826-1838.Alexander was a Sergeant in the Royal Horse Artillery based at Woolwich and Aldershot.One of his brothers may have emigrated to Canada, and looking for any Canadian connection also.Married Mary Campion in 1854 at Roskelton Church Mountrath.Children: Mary Sarah(1854),Edward(1857),who was later Episcopal Bishop of Connecticut,USA, and father of Dean Acheson,Secretary of State,1949-1953,Alexander(1859),Arthur(1864). Mary Acheson died Nov,1868. Remarried Lucy Anne Hone(widow,maiden name Ward)in Dec 1869 at Anatrim Church Coolrain,Mountrath. Children of the marriage: Lucy Jane(1870),Frederick(b.1872,d.1888),Charles(1875),Elizabeth Anne (1877). Alexander Acheson died 18-1-1903,at the age of 76,buried at St John Baptist,Ballyfin.His wife Lucy Anne died in Cavan,buried with her husband at Ballyfin in June 1919.
