I am descended from John Acheson and his
wife, Sarah Elizabeth Adams, who emigrated
from Enniskillen, Fermanagh, Ireland to
Sr.Patrick, New Brunswick. Their daughter
Margaret married James Cockburn, and they
were the parents of Sarah Elizabeth
Cockburn who married John Cramer Towle,
who was born in Oak Bay, New Brunswick,
Canada. Sarah and John had twin daughters,
Ruby Towle (Hovey) and Isabella Desire
Towle who were born in 1863 in Montrose,
Michigan. Isabella "Izetta" married Joseph
Robert Hughes and they settled in
Beaverton, Michigan. Their daughter
Beatrice E. Hughes was my grandmother. She
married Royal Bird McKibbin and they had
two children: Juanita Mae McKibbin (Colgan)
and my father, Hugh Robert McKibbin, who
died in 1999 of cancer. I would welcome
hearing from anyone on the Acheson line or
any of the others, and I would be glad to
share information.
