I was doing some research and came across a photo of Mary Elizabeth Abshire, one of only ten "throat whistlers" in the United States. The article was in a 1934 Tulsa, Oklahoma newspaper and said she was about 11 years old at the time.
I appears her mother died young and she was raised primarily by her father. her grandmother Mabel Basset was a prominent government figure in Oklahoma.
Does anybody know what happened to Mary Elizabeth Abshire? Did she marry? Move from Tulsa? When did she die or is she still alive?
