Charles Oscar Abshire was bor 16 May 1880 in Spencer County. He was the father of George who marrued Ruth Stagg.

1840 Spencer - James 70-80 -000200001- 10020001. Alfred 30-40, Tillford 30-40, John 40-50, Abraham 30-40, all likely sons of old James. Both Alfred and John had sons 16-20 that fit Jackson born ca 1824. Alfred born 1807 in Ky.
1820 Spencer - James "Abshear" - 131101 - 131001, hence six sons, five daus. Maybe more by 1840. Same page - two Garretts into which family Abshears married. Alfred married Nancy Garrett, had sons John, Job, Silas, in Ohio by 1910.
1800 Burke County, N.Car - James "Absher" 2001 - 1001, he age 26-45, age 40 as born 1760. He died in 1850.
