Since posting this, I have discovered that Berryman Absher was the brother of Mary Absher and that their parents were John Absher and Nancy Barnhart. Thanks to J. Vance Absher for the information.
I have also discovered that my Mary Jane Absher Travelstead, who married John Travelstead 19 August 1849, Sumner County, Tennessee, was living next door to B. Abshire in the 1850 census of Allen County, Kentucky. This B. Abshire has to be Berryman Abshire, and I believe he was the father of Mary J. Absher Travelstead, who was only 16 years old in 1850.

John and Mary Jane moved to Saline County, Illinois, where Mary J. died in the 1870s. John married two or three times more. He died about 1909 in Gainesville, Texas.
Would like to hear from any relatives, even the ones that have never heard of Mary J or John. LOL
