The first Absher that I know of that came to this country was Lewis Abshere. Notice the first spelling. In Augusta and Franklin Counties, the name was Abshire. The first spelling of Absher that I know of after that was Wilkes County, North Carolina. Lots in other states use the Absher Spelling. Anyway, I think Absher, Abshire and several other spellings are all the same people. Would like to hear from others on this and where they think it all started.
