Absher/Abshire Migration

First Abshere found in America...Lewis Abshere (1637) James
City County, Virginia.
(484) Theodore Moyses, 2000 acres in the county of James
City, on Tanks Pasbye Hayes Creek, running two miles north
west into the woods, abutting on the Chickahominy River.
Due for the transportation of forty persons (names below)By
Harvey, May 23d, 1637.
Lewis Abshere was one of these names.

Another thought: There was an Abshawe Family in Essex,
England who had a son by the name of Lewis Abshawe,
born in 1610.

Next Absher or other spellings were found in Augusta County,
Virginia, Bedford County, Franklin County. The name changed
from Abshire to Absher when they moved to Wilkes County,
North Carolina. Some went to Missouri, Illinois and used the
Absher Spelling though some of them went through North
Carolina. Seems the ones in Louisiana used the spelling
Abshire. Kentucky and West Virginia have a bunch spelling
both ways. If we look together, we may find something that
someone has over looked in the past.
