Robert, I just stumbled into this website and of course it piqued my interest.My fathers name is Oscar Abreu and is from the capital in R.D. I have been told that my ancestors originated in France and somehow found their way to the Carribean. My fathers family is connected to "la clinica Abreu" in Santo Domingo, however I don't have very much detail on my dads side of the family. My mom also Dominican via Spain named De LA Maza...any info much appreciated.
