Hi My Brothers
My name is Pete ABREU, resident of Tennessee, USA original from Puerto Rico. I too was curious about the last name ABREU and desided to do a bit of research regarding our origin. I have a WEB page where people of the LAST NAME ABREU can forward information about their familys origin and so on. Information I have received does indicate a JEWISH ancestry dating back to the 1400 when the Ancient Jewish inhabited the Island of Corsica and many of them were persecuted during the Spanish enquisition forcing them to flee to other Lands. Many of them came to the Caribean Islands and others went to South America. Tha explains the reazon for the name in Brazil. Also let be known that the name is found WORLD-WIDE as the sand of the seas. ABRAHAM'sseed was to be as the sands of the seas.
