Hi Tony!
My name is Rita and i'm brazilian.
Abreu is a portuguese surname and usually comes with another surname "Gomes de Abreu", the records i found are back to 1122 from Gonçalo Martins Abreu, in Monção, Viana do Castelo, Portugal. But i belive our family is one of the oldest one in Europe. It's a hard job to keep on track with our genealogy because it seems that they had the habit of getting married with cousins and a lot of wifes would not have their parents name after marriage, besides they used to give the girls the same names of their mothers.
But i'll keep on searching, it seems like it's just the beggining...
Let me know if u have any information.
